The 51st Annual Windfest Festival in Portland, Texas hosted by the Portland Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by the City of Portland, returns April 9–12, 2026 at the Portland Community Center (2000 Billy G. Webb Dr., Portland, TX) and if you've never been, this is the year to go. If you're a regular, you already know what we're going to say. This thing is a whole weekend!

It's been a community tradition since 1973, and it shows — in the live music carrying across the grounds, the smell of funnel cakes in the air, and the families who've been coming back for years. Here's everything you need to know before you go.
Opening night, Thursday, April 9th, is free admission for all ages. For Friday through Sunday, tickets are available at the gate or online at Windfest.org. Festival entry fee applies for certain activities (Pickleball Tournament, Dachshund Dash registration, etc.).
The main stage at Windfest is the heart of the festival, and the 2026 lineup is stacked.

Friday is country night — Jake Hoot, winner of NBC's The Voice, leads a lineup that includes Jamie Floyd, Tristan Tritt and Tyler Reese Tritt (sons of country legend Travis Tritt), and Casey Chesnutt.
Saturday shifts to rock, with Cobra Drive, Love Street, Michael Burtts Band, Climate Change, and Bohemian Queen bringing the classic rock energy.
Sunday closes the festival with Tejano — Mica Rivas Y Sus Musicales, Conjunto Solis, and The 181 Boys.
Check Windfest.org for the full stage schedule and set times.
Windfest has something for everyone, whether you're 5 or 75. The carnival midway runs Thursday through Sunday and it's the heartbeat of the festival. Lights, rides, games, laughter — the kind of experience kids don't stop talking about.

Before the gates open Saturday morning, kick things off with the Run Like the Wind Fun Run at 8 a.m. The Kite Flying Expo fills the sky with spectacular, colorful kites soaring over Portland's famous coastal winds — a perfect photo op and a reminder of why this festival has "wind" in the name. SoHot Glass Blowing brings artisan glasswork to the festival grounds — watch skilled artists shape molten glass into something beautiful right in front of you. The Petting Zoo and Pony Rides are a hit for the little ones — hands-on, gentle, and the kind of thing that makes the whole drive worth it. Archery with Majesty Outdoors gives older kids and adults a chance to test their aim. And Mutton Bustin' Mania (FREE entry, Friday through Sunday) is the crowd-pleaser you won't want to miss — kids 5 years and older, 55 lbs and under, hold on tight and hang on longer than the sheep wants you to.

The Windfest Car Show is its own event within the festival, and car enthusiasts make the trip specifically for this. Registration opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 11th, at Portland Community Center. Entry: $30 per vehicle. The Trophy Award Ceremony takes place at 3 p.m., with awards across 20+ categories including Best 50s through 90s, Best in Show, Modern Muscle, Mustang, Camaro, Ratrod, Best EV, Kids Choice, and more.
Cool rides, live music, food, and prizes all day. Whether you're entering or just admiring, it's absolutely worth your Saturday. For more info and registration, visit Windfest.org.

Bring the dogs. Seriously. Woofstock takes over Portland Community Center on Sunday, April 12, and it is exactly what it sounds like: a festival day dedicated entirely to pups and the people who love them. Entry is FREE (standard Windfest gate fees apply). Friendly leashed dogs of all kinds are welcome.
The signature event is the Dachshund Dash! A short-legged sprint for the ages. Watch determined dachshunds race with everything they've got. Registration: $15 per dachshund. You don't have a dachshund? That's fine. The spectating is priceless regardless.
The 3rd Annual Windfest Pickleball Tournament takes place inside the Portland Community Center Gymnasium (2000 Billy G. Webb Dr.) on April 11th & 12th. Saturday features Men's & Women's Doubles; Sunday brings Mixed (Co-Ed) Doubles. Entry fees: $45 for one day/event, $75 for both days — which includes your Windfest festival entry! Awards go to the Top 3 teams. For information and registration, visit Windfest.org.
The IBCA State Championship BBQ Cook-Off brings serious competition, and even more serious smells to the Windfest grounds all weekend. Teams competing for IBCA State championship points means the quality is top tier. Add the Cornhole Tournament (Singles & Doubles, tracked on the Scoreholio app), retail vendors with unique finds, and rows of food trucks serving everything from festival classics to local favorites. To register, visit https://bit.ly/IBCAWFstate.
Portland has 12 convenient hotels within minutes of the festival, most offering free breakfast and competitive rates. The TownePlace Suites by Marriott and Staybridge Suites offer full kitchens for extended-stay families. The Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, Country Inn & Suites, and Holiday Inn Express are all family-friendly with pools. Home2 Suites by Hilton, Best Western Plus, and La Quinta Inn by Wyndham welcome pets — which is especially convenient if you're planning to bring a furry friend to Woofstock.
Portland puts you minutes from the festival grounds and an easy drive from the beach, downtown Corpus, and everything in between. A lot of families make it a yearly thing.
