The Portland Aquatic Center at 2002 Billy G Webb Dr. is a great way to start the long weekend โ built for the whole family, all ages. Two pools, waterslides, palm tree shaders, and zero-depth entry for little ones make it easy to stay and play all afternoon. Outside food is welcome, so bring a picnic.
In honor of Memorial Day weekend, veterans and active military swim for free on Monday, May 26 from noon to 4 p.m. Just bring your military ID! Thank you for your service.
Summer hours: TuesdayโSunday, 12โ6 p.m. through August 9.

If you're here to fish, Indian Point Pier is one of the best spots in Portland to start the day. Get there early and you'll have the bay nearly to yourself.
Bring your gear, or just walk out to the end and let the bay do the rest. The new pavilion is a perfect spot for a quiet cup of coffee before the day gets started.
Don't forget your fishing license!

If you've been looking for a reason to get on the water, the Chris Andrews Boat Launch gives you free, easy bay access. You can also bring your own kayak or rent one locally on-site!
The bay is calm in the mornings, and paddling the shoreline on a clear May day is the kind of experience that ends with someone saying, "we should do this every year."

Portland has family-friendly parks and green spaces built for holiday weekends. Several parks offer covered shelters and picnic areas perfect for a cookout or family gathering. And if you'd rather let someone else do the cooking, Portland has plenty of eateries โ from popular fast food to sit-down spots.
